Anypoint Platform Architecture: Application Networks

Training information

Introduction

An application network connects applications, data, and devices within a company and its external ecosystem using APIs. This training teaches experienced enterprise and solution architects how to build an effective application network from individual integration solutions following API-led connectivity principles.

 

General information

Target Audience: Enterprise architects and senior solution architects. Prerequisites: Have taken Getting Started with Anypoint Platform, Anypoint Platform Development: Fundamentals, or hold the MuleSoft Certified Developer Level 1 (Mule 4) / Associate (Mule 3) certification.

Target Competencies:

  • Identify the different levels of API classification.

  • Design APIs based on functional requirements.

  • Choose the best deployment strategy for APIs.

Learning Objectives:

  • Translate business requirements into business APIs.

  • Lead API creation and publication (RAML).

  • Define event-driven and API-led architectures.

  • Advise on automation (DevOps, CI/CD) and the implementation of a C4E.

Program

Part 1: API-Led Strategy & Organizational Design (7 Hours)

  • 1.1 Organizational Foundations: OBD (Outcome-Based Delivery) methodology, ArchiMate 3 modeling, establishing a Center for Enablement (C4E), and enterprise identity management.

  • 1.2 API-Led Tiers & Composition: Structuring Experience, Process, and System APIs, maximizing asset reuse, and contrasting Enterprise Data Models with Bounded Contexts.

Part 2: Architecture, Event-Driven Patterns & Modeling (7 Hours)

  • 2.1 API Design & Publication Workshops: Translating business requirements into technical specs, leading RAML creation, and publishing to Anypoint Exchange.

  • 2.2 Event-Driven Architecture: Event Sourcing patterns, messaging queues (Anypoint MQ), auto-discovery mechanisms, and designing scalable asynchronous flows.

Part 3: Production, Security & Monitoring (7 Hours)

  • 3.1 Non-Functional Requirements & Security: Enforcing NFRs using API Manager, designing effective caching strategies, and implementing edge security.

  • 3.2 DevOps & Analytics: CI/CD pipeline integration, automated testing frameworks, scaling strategies, and leveraging Anypoint Analytics for operational intelligence.

  • Teaching Methods: Alternation of theoretical and practical inputs based on case studies, certified MuleSoft trainer, course materials provided at the end of the training.
